Quinta Santa Eufemia 20-year-old White Port 500ml

Winemaking Process: Quinta Santa Eufemia White 20yrs , has a winemaking process identical to that used in the wines of Porto Tawnys . Thus, it was vinified in granite mills with traditional foot treading, which allowed to obtain the structure necessary for their aging in the long years that followed . The grapes were harvested with a graduation average of 13 to 14 baumee .

The fermentation was stopped with the addition of brandy , so as to obtain a wine with a degree of 19 º while still maintaining some 3rd baumme .

These wines have suffered a first winter in stainless steel tanks so as to allow its natural decantation. The following spring are transferred to vats and wooden barrels , where they remained for about 10 years. Subsequently they are transferred to old wooden casks with about 550 liters which continues its aging to the time of bottling. During this aging are periodically aired in early spring

Tasting notes: With golden color, unlike White Port 10 years has almost no features fruity aromas. Presents rather a great complexity resulting from its aging in wood. However, there is a heavy wine as it keeps the freshness typical of white wines. It is this freshness and aroma in the mouth which distinguishes it from traditional Tawny 20 years and it appears immediately on his test surprising us. After this initial feeling a succession of numerous aromas and flavors that remind us of old ports.

Recommendations: It can be served as an appetizer when fresh, however for better feel all its complexity, it is recommended temperature 18-19 degrees.
