Brandy Mel is now called Dom Cristina.
Cristina family produces the most famous honey liquor in Portugal for over 60 years. Made with the original recipe Oliveiros Cristina grandfather, with the dedication with which his father David Cristina won numerous awards, and with the same motivation with his son David Cristina to continue to produce.
The only difference is that the liqueur has lost its name!
It lost its name because thirty years ago, Oliveiros Cristina grandfather died before he could renew the registration. And when his father David Cristina attempted to, it was no longer available.
The name is Lost, but inside the liquid is the same.
Tasting Notes: It is clear and pale golden. There is a pungent, buttered honey covered toast aroma. It tastes rich, sweet (but not sickly sweet) with waxy honeycomb honey.
Distillation: A Portuguese brandy-based, honey-flavoured liqueur from the Algarve region flavoured with herbs from the local hills. The brandy used is distilled from medronho (or arbutus fruit) and as well as honey, lemon oils are added before the product is matured in old oak port pipes for a minimum of 6 months. It is then filtered and bottled in the traditional heat-engraved bottle.
Recommendations: This liqueur is rich in flavour and volume and can be served neat, with ice and lemon, or in cocktails.
